March 25, 2006 (Press Release) --
London, ON, March 25, 2006 -- Venue level competitions will take place from April to June in select cities across Canada. Regional Competitions in July will determine the National Finalists who will be sent to Toronto to compete for the title of Canadian National Karaoke Champions.
Grand prize packages include trips to Finland to represent Canada in the 4th annual Karaoke World Championships onboard the luxury cruise ship M/S Galaxy September 8-10 against representatives from 30 other countries.
According to CNKC spokesperson Gary Klemenz, “This marks the first amateur competition of this kind in Canada. Next year will be even larger with more cities and prizes.”
“This competition is important not only to our singers, but to children that benefit from the tireless efforts of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada, many of which also provide meals, emergency shelter, family support programs and other supports to children and youth at risk.” said Klemenz.
Competitors must pay a standard entry fee for administration and prizing and raise a minimum of $30.00 in pledged donations to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada for each entry into the competition.
