March 29, 2006 (Press Release) --
Los Angeles, California, March 29, 2006
Academy Award winning legend, Robert Evans, the former head of Paramount Studios and one of Hollywood’s most prolific producers whose motion picture portfolio includes some of the industry’s greatest blockbusters, ‘The Godfather’, ‘Love Story’, ‘Chinatown ’and ‘Marathon Man’, just to name a few, considers his film, ‘The Power of Faith’ to be the highlight of his very successful filmmaking career.
‘The Power of Faith’ was conceived in New Orleans over 20 years ago when Archbishop Phillip M. Hannan of the Archdiocese of New Orleans asked Mr. Evans to produce the film for Pope John Paul II.
‘The Power of Faith’ is an incredibly beautiful piece of celluloid history that is being recognized as a commemorative work of art and is being praised by some of the industry’s greatest critics, including Harry Forbes, the Director of The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Office for Film and Broadcasting. Stated Mr. Forbes, “Those with a special devotion to Pope John Paul II (and they are legion) will especially be moved.”
Although much of the material that Mr. Evans received from the Vatican was either taped and/or filmed without today’s technology, Mr. Evans was able to create a visual masterpiece.
States Robert Evans, “The Power of Faith, which chronicles the life of Pope John Paul II is a romantic ‘love story’ that displays the incredible healing and power of forgiveness and how it transcends to all people in all walks of life and from all faiths; and Pope John Paul II will always be remembered as a great man that touched the world through his tender love and compassion.”
The film, which is in both English and Spanish, features television and motion picture star, Ricardo Montalban, a heartfelt musical performance by Donna Summer, an original score by the world renown, Yanni, and a special presentation by Tony Melendez, the armless man who performed his presentation for the Pope, with his feet.
