March 31, 2006 (Press Release) --
Screen Door Entertainment puts a fresh new spin on traditional crafts topics with three major new “how-to” series it’s producing for DIY Network. This year, DIY will introduce Stylelicious, Uncommon Threads, and Craft Lab. These hip new programs follow on the heels of Screen Door’s successful production of DIY’s Knitty Gritty.
In Stylelicious, premiering Thursday, April 6 at 2:30 p.m. ET, Vickie Howell, host of DIY’s Knitty Gritty series, brings together seven of her crafty friends from the “Austin Craft Mafia” to deliver a show that takes crafts to the edge and delivers new ideas and lively discussion. This half-hour series is a tasty concoction of fashion, accessories and fun as a round-robin group of fashionistas show viewers three unique projects on the same theme in each episode. Viewers get three crafty points of view on each show as our designing divas tackle purses, shoes and all kinds of fashion treats.
In July Uncommon Threads rolls out. This series sheds a modern light on the art of needlecrafts, including appliqué, crochet, embroidery, patchwork, quilting and rug making. A different needle arts group or club from around the country joins style savvy host Allison Whitlock in each episode. Viewers get to know the members as they share their ideas, specialties, techniques and creations. By the end of every episode viewers have learned how to make one or more awesome projects and have met some colorful folks.
In the fall, Craft Lab proves that there’s more to homemade crafts than just popsicle sticks and pipe cleaners. Each day, an expert on the cutting edge comes to help spread the word of craft to today's modern masses. Host Jennifer Perkins works on each project along with the guest, while fun-loving roving reporter Cat Greenleaf, runs around the country with crafty challenges for anyone she can find. Viewers get the latest twists on craft obsessions such as altered books, soap making, polymer clay, collage, art dolls, computer crafting, stained glass, and much more.
Los Angeles based Screen Door Entertainment also has a number of other new projects outside of the how-to genre in the works including documentary/reality series for FINE LIVING TV NETWORK, HGTV and other networks.
