New DVD Follows Three Couples on their Journey of Assisted Reproduction and Unleashes the Emotional, Spiritual and Physical Realities of IVF
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) April 7, 2006 --
Eighty million people worldwide suffer from infertility. Fifteen percent of those are Americans. The natural desire among many couples to create a family is very strong so strong that more than 177,000 babies have been born in the U.S. by in vitro fertilization (IVF).
But the emotional and psychological journey to possible pregnancy through IVF has remained shrouded in mystery. Until now.
Technostorks (www.technostorks.com) is the first documentary to go inside the lives of couples to explore the emotions, expectations and physical demands that IVF visits on those who want to conceive. Sitting with them, viewers witness three couples unveil their greatest hopes and fears. From their living rooms to the operating room, Technostorks takes their journey beyond medical textbooks & sensational headlines about sextuplets. It is a personal journey and one with no single destination.
"This film was inspired by our own experiences with infertility and assisted reproduction," said Andrei Kirilenko, producer and director.
He and his wife, Shelley, who co-produced and narrated the film, went through six years of infertility and multiple fertility treatments. Yet, they could locate little information beyond statistics, sterile procedural documents, and lengthy disclaimers to prepare them for their journey
"We wanted to create an information piece that would help other couples going through IVF who have no idea what lies ahead, said Andrei Kirilenko. We utilized our skills as filmmakers to present the emotional, psychological and spiritual aspects to assisted reproduction we wanted to lift the veil on the mystery and see beyond the medical.
In the documentary, top medical professionals from all over the country share their expertise and insight as the couples go through their most intimate moments of egg retrievals and embryo transfers, cope with phobias and hormones, and receive the ultimate phone call about the results.
Technostorks (51 minutes, Video, Digitally mastered, $21.99) is a production of Technostorks LLC, an independent media company helping infertile couples better understand infertility and assisted reproduction. The film is available on DVD through www.technostorks.com
