April 13, 2006 (Press Release) --
Following the principle of the recent “pixel” sites, www.corfu-earthsupport.com has just gone online with blocks for sale on its home page for companies or individuals to display their images with links to their websites. The blocks cost 100 Euros each and any number may be purchased, depending on availability.
All the funds generated in this way will be used to support groups or organisations working for Sustainable Development, Cultural Diversity & Dialogue or Conditions for Peace. Not only will well-established organisations be supported, but the site is also giving smaller groups who might otherwise have difficulty in raising funds the opportunity to apply for financial support. Priority will initially be given to groups in the immediate geographical region around Corfu, but all applications will be considered. Visitors to the website will be able to see where funds have been allocated, with links to each of the beneficiary groups or organisations.
The new website has been set up by Corfu Symposio, a non-profit company based in Corfu, Greece, which acts as a permanent forum to support and promote the 3 core themes of Sustainable Development, Cultural Diversity & Dialogue and Conditions for Peace through seminars, conferences, workshops, performances, festivals and other events.
Tony Clark, co-founder of Corfu Symposio, stated that he was excited that the novel, profit-generating idea of the “pixel” sites could be used to support small, non-profit grassroots groups. Purchasers of blocks will not only be increasing traffic to their websites, but will also be playing a part in the promotion of these three important core themes.
