DIGEST: Easter egg hunts
• Community egg hunts in Pleasant Hill, Martinez and Pacheco will be held this weekend.
• An Egg-citing Egg Hunt for children ages 10 and younger will take place at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 15, at Pleasant Hill Park, 147 Gregory Lane. Festivities include egg hunts, face painting and entertainment. Cost is $5.
• The Martinez Kiwanis/Lions Club Easter Egg Hunt will have its community egg hunt for children ages 2-9, beginning at 10 a.m. sharp April 15, at Waterfront Park on North Court Street. Kids can bring their own baskets or one will be provided for them. They can also have their face painted like a bunny, courtesy of the Martinez Recreation Department. There is no cost to attend.
• The Pacheco Town Council is having its sixth annual egg hunt Saturday, April 15, at the community center, 5800 Pacheco Blvd. Registration begins at 10 a.m. and the egg hunt starts at 11 a.m. sharp. The Easter Bunny is making a stop to pose for pictures and there will also be games, prizes and refreshments. There is no cost to attend. For information, call 925-676-8877.
Earth Day, Muir style
• A John Muir birthday celebration and Earth Day festival will be held from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. April 22, at the John Muir National Historic Site, 4202 Alhambra Ave., Martinez. There will be free activities and hands-on demonstrations, including organic gardening and agriculture, habitat protection, alternative energy and environmental education. The Muir mansion will be open and feature a new exhibit on the naturalist's work as a botanist, and there will be servings of cake in observance of Muir's 168th birthday anniversary. Live music and art exhibits are scheduled at the family event, which will be canceled in the event of heavy rain. Admission is free. Call 925-228-8860 or visit www.johnmuirassociation.org.
Chamber breakfast
• The Pleasant Hill Chamber of Commerce is having its Bacon and Breakfast meeting from 7:30-9 a.m. April 26, at Courtyard by Marriott, 2250 Contra Costa Blvd. Diane Fleck of The Learning Cafe will present It Takes a Village -- Building Your Resources for Business Success. The cost is $12 for chamber members and $20 for the public. Breakfast is included. For reservations, call 925-687-0700.
