Eminent politician, editor and Chairman of Bangladesh Editor's Forum, Shahidur Rahman Tapa has given a statement condemning atrocities and murders of innocent people in the village of Kansat by the members of law enforcing agencies. He said, bloodshed could never bring any solution to such crisis, which was the result of endless corruption in the ministry concerned. He said, in past several years, the Power Ministry interrupted establishment of a number of power stations in private sectors, just because, the state minister could not be satisfied with the amount of bribe. Tapa asked the international community to extend support to Jatiya Part under the dynamic leadership of former President Hussain Muhammed Ershad, who is considered as the icon of progress and development of Bangladesh.
Shahidur Rahman Tapa said, during Ershad's rule, innocent people were never targeted by the members of law enforcing agencies.
He said, since 1990, state of human rights and freedom of press has reached to an alarming situation in Bangladesh. Minority rights are regularly abused. He said, the present government is badly infleunced by extremist Islamist groups, which dream to turn Bangladesh into another extremist country.
Tapa further said, the ruling alliance in Bangladesh is playing with people's right, while country's status as corrupt nation has been topped the list for several years. Bangladesh needs a leader like Hussain Muhammed Ershad and international community including world powers need to extend their support to Jatiya Party. He said, Ershad's leadership can only salvage Bangladesh from present crisis.
