Student hopes to erase university debt and cancer, one buck at a time!

Toronto, ON - April 17, 2006- University of Toronto graduate Veronica Sweeney is taking action to pay back her student debt, asking people to �give a grad a buck� while simultaneously raising money for cancer research. With her newly launched website www.giveagradabuck.com, Sweeney is looking for donations to help pay down her $35,000 in student loans. And in a unique twist, all donations will be split 50/50 with the Canadian Cancer Society in honour of her father who has been battling the disease. Sweeney hopes the website will raise enough funds to continue as a not-for-profit organization that gives other recent graduates debt relief grants.

"Initially I came up with the idea of starting a website to just pay down my loans. However, I quickly realized that this could also be an opportunity to do something good for a great charity,� said Sweeney. �Ultimately, I'm hoping it's a big enough success to provide some relief for other students across the country who graduate with huge student debts. The possibilities are endless for the difference this could make for myself, other graduates and cancer research."
