April 17, 2006 (Press Release) --
West Chester, Pa April 17, 2006
Folk Rock/Indie band Mersy Street first release **A Summer Day**, the bands first single from their debut album *Kingsford Drive* entered the AIIR RADIO top 40 chart at # 30 today. The bands sound echo’s early Doobie Brothers, The Sundays and 10,000 Maniacs simplicity with a ‘70s pop feel.
The single was originally released April 3rd on AIIR RADIO.net
We submitted the song to the station management and got an email from Helen Finch the next day telling us when the song was going to be on the air. Were finding that the station is very generous to independent artists and there is quite a community feel to their site. I was actually surprised to see that it charted at all!
A Summer Day, along with the other songs on “Kingsford Drive” were recorded very quickly with a lot of enthusiasm and I think that comes across on the rest of the songs as well. There was a great deal of energy happening when these songs were recorded!
“Kingsford Drive” is a bedroom-recorded tapestry of fun folk/pop from a 17-year-old kid’s carefree days of summer. It sort of chronicles what we all encounter when were going through those years.
Mersy Street is available for interviews and may be contacted via e-mail at mersystreet@hotmail.com.
