Although Shanley is a prolific playwright, he is probably best known as the Academy Award-winning screenwriter of Moonstruck. Other highlights in his writing career include Joe Versus the Volcano and Congo. “This play is his response to the dog-eat-dog world he encountered when he left New York for Hollywood,” said Heard. “Anyone who has set foot in L.A. will easily identify these characters.” Four Dogs tells the story of a naïve playwright-cum-screenwriter, a sleazy producer, a fading starlet, and a ruthless ingénue all fighting for control of a film quickly spiraling downward.
