El Tamarindo Restaurant will present The Power Within (a small mini art exhibition that will consist of 20 paintings created on canvas) featuring the works of Afrika Midnight Asha Abney from July 1, 2006 – July 31, 2006.Curated by D.Edward Dyer, President of Art N Deed, LLC
Afrika Midnight Asha Abney is an abstract expressionist, who uses vibrant, muted, and neutral colors in her paintings, collages, masks and prints. She works in acrylic, pastels, charcoals, pencils and mix media. Afrika is a graduate of the Corcoran School of the Arts and is influenced by such artists as Jorge Somarriba, Marvin Sin, Lois M. Jones, Romare Bearden, Jacob Lawrence, and Sam Gilliam. She is a member of Black Artists of DC, Emma Mae Gallery, Heritage Gallery, Moca DC, The District of Columbia Arts Center, and others.
El Tamarindo specializes in El Salvadoran and Mexican cuisine. For over 20 years we have been serving delicous and savory meals to our customers which keeps them coming back. El Tamarindo is a local favorite hang out spot, great for large parties, birthday, anniversaries, mother's days, and even cinco de mayo! Come have some of our signature sangria and margarhitas!
