April 25, 2006 (Press Release) --
Greater Calling, a teleconferencing ministry, announced that it is providing free teleconferencing services to join thousands around the world in prayer over the telephone in support of the Azusa Street Centennial event to be held in Los Angeles from today through April 29th.
By dialing a special conference number (1-605-990-0031) and entering a special access code (AZUSA# or 29872#), people can join in to pray with others in groups of up to 96 anytime of the day or night continuing until midnight on April 29th. Greater Calling Ministry has trained volunteers from around the world to act as prayer leaders in the many different virtual prayer ‘rooms’ in order to lead people through various prayer points for the world. People can call in and just listen or they can join in with their own prayers.
The Azusa Street Centennial is opportunity to experience the reflection and reality of the world’s greatest revival. From a handful of believers in Los Angeles, who witnessed an incredible outpouring of the Spirit in April 1906, the Pentecostal/Charismatic movement has grown into a vast worldwide movement numbering more than 600 million 100 years later.
While tens of thousands of people from over 74 nations are converging in Los Angeles, many more will be unable to be physically present. With the advent of modern technology and the basic telephone, thousands more can now be a part of the Azusa Street Centennial. In addition, utilizing free software, believers can join a conference from anywhere in the world by using their computers as phones. “What an amazing miracle of God that I am blessed to meet people from the other side of the globe using my computer and a headset”, said the Rev. Kennedy Waningu from Kenya, Africa.
“Everyone of us has a voice, and now all you need is a phone to lift your voice with others in prayer and join with us in this celebration. Although we have many events planned, we are glad we can offer people a unique way to pray with us right from their own homes”, said Fred Berry, Prayer Officer of the Azusa Street Centennial Committee.
