April 28, 2006 (Press Release) --
Bettcher Amherst Metal Stamping, a leading manufacturer of precision metal stampings, recently developed a high-volume, multiple machine press cell to increase capacity in a lean environment. The work cell consists of three smaller tonnage presses where any or all of the presses can be run by a single operator.
“We are expecting the cell to add capacity to increase our growth potential,” said Jerry Lynch, President of Bettcher Amherst Metal Stamping. “The cell also contributes to our lean manufacturing commitment by minimizing costs and reducing space requirements.”
The multiple machine press cell is part of a series of ongoing efficiency improvements in Bettcher’s Brook Park facility reorganization plan. The company is striving to create a leaner organization by reworking the plant layout to improve efficiency, material flow and equipment utilization.
The lean initiative is just one more example of the steps being taken in the continuous improvement of Bettcher Amherst Metal Stamping. The company is focused on maintaining global competitiveness through its adaptation to technology and the economy.
Bettcher Amherst Metal Stamping offers high-volume runs of precision metal stampings, including four-slide and multi-slide parts, wireforms, deep-draw parts and large transfer-die stampings. The company specializes in metal stampings for the power tool, lawn & garden, household appliance, HVAC, heavy transportation and plumbing industries. In addition to their Cleveland, Ohio headquarters, they provide metal stampings to the Maquiladora region from their Reynosa, Mexico metal stamping facility near McAllen, Texas.
