Cat Galaxy Boycotts Myspace.com Over Cat Abuse Video
Meow. We are letting everyone know that our station is deleting its profile on myspace.com and has sent a request to them to have our account on their service deleted after seeing the news reports regarding two teenage girls who uploaded and posted a video on myspace showing themselves kicking, shoving and dropping a live cat wrapped in plastic wrap. We are glad to know that the cat is ok and at a rescue facility. We also hope that the cat gets a good and loving home.
Our station loves cats (as we are a radio station for them) and will not support a service that allows its members to freely show videos of themselves abusing or harming cats in the name of entertainment. Cats deserve our loving care and attention and not to be abused physically whether it is for entertainment or in other situations. While we know myspace can be used for positive purposes, we also must stand on the side of cats and do what we think is right and also set a good example as well and state that the abuse of these wonderful, beautiful and intelligent animals should not be tolerated. It is tough to leave myspace but feel that it is in our station's best interest to do so.
Another video has also appeared on IFILM where a man has taken to yelling at cats for no reason and calling them "f***in' bitches" and even saying they are going to "rape one" of them. The tape even shows this guy (he's behind the camera of course) yelling and scaring one cat saying "Don't run away from me. I'll end you."

Yelling at cats for no reason is abuse and should not be tolerated. IFILM's reaction to the video was stated as follows:
"UPDATE: Since this video appeared on a recent episode of Web Junk 20, we've received some complaints from those of you who think that it is inappropriate for IFILM and VH1 to be featuring this video. We thank you for sharing your thoughts and we hope you will understand that we definitely do not condone the abuse of any animal, whether wild or domesticated."
If they do not condone the abuse of animals then why is this video still online for all to download? This person should be reported so the cats can be checked on so we as viewers will know these cats were not physically abused. We have written to IFILM letting them know this video is disturbing and to have it reported to the proper authorities so the cats in the video can be checked on.
Nonetheless, Cat Galaxy will make the necessary changes and not use services that promote, condone or otherwise allow its users to freely abuse or show the abuse of cats and other animals in the name of entertainment. We also urge our feline and feline loving listeners to do the same and thus show their support for cats to be loved and well cared for and not abused for the sake of entertainment. Thank you for your support and understanding.
