May 9, 2006 (Press Release) --
This solution replaces the COMET software which has been used and continuously expanded upon within the company since 1989.
The reasoning behind opting for this new software is the need for integrated data processing architecture, i.e. a need to nurture the levels of interaction between the individual divisions– beginning with Sales and extending to Purchasing, Production
and Cost Accounting right down to Financial Accounting. In the course of implementing BAAN, UNGRICHT has also introduced computer-aided materials management. This means that, in addition to accounting and the commercial activities which occur in Sales and Purchasing, the company has begun taking inventory of virtually every material and product. This has resulted in a major upheaval, not least of all for Production, since the consumption posting for materials and times no longer has an impact merely on final costing but also on the stock evaluation and warehousing. In the course of rolling out the software, the BAAN project team needed to take every division into consideration. In addition to those activities which have already been completed, the remaining new functions will very shortly provide for far greater transparency with regard to stock levels, capacity and order processing status.
As a consequence, each employee will, in future, come into contact with the BAAN system which should then mean that it will be used even more extensively. The training courses due to take place in the coming weeks will mark the initiation of the optimisation phase. In the process, the needs and requirements of the individual departments will be taken into consideration as far as possible and will be reconciled with the overall concept. Experience to date suggests that UNGRICHT is on the right track. UNGRICHT has noticed the greater transparency that this system brings for the production and the improved means of control.
The next step will be to optimise the various steps and procedures to such an extent that every posting transaction – ranging from the procurement of materials to the delivery of the finished products –run without a hitch. UNGRICHT is confident that, once the implementation and optimisation phases are complete, every area within the company will benefit from this integrated software.
