May 11, 2006 (Press Release) -- Music writer and long running Friday Morning Listen columnist Mark Saleski has been selected as Blogcritic of the month for May 2006: http://blogcritics.org/archives/2006/05/01/084420.php.

In a wide ranging and free wheeling interview, Blogcritics.org Editor Lisa McKay gets Mark’s takes on such things as the death of radio, the new musical digital age, the characters from Dazed and Confused Saleski most relates to, and Mark’s favorite writers, pop culture icons, and Blogcritics.

Blogcritics.org founder and publisher Eric Olsen says of Saleski:

“Mark Saleski writes about music with the enthusiasm of a lifelong fan, the nuts-and-bolts insight of a musician, the range of a musicologist, and the familiarity of a great friend."

We also get Mark’s take on reviewing:

“What makes it seem like I listen to everything is that I tend to look for the positive in every record. There are a lot of CDs that come my way that never make it into the review pile. Negative reviews, especially the ones where the writer has always disliked the artist and/or genre, are a waste of time. They're pathetic exercises that do nothing but call attention to the reviewer.”

On discovering new music:

“As far as the more ‘out there’ types of music, I have talked about my discovery of a musician named John Zorn. He's tough to apply a strict category to, since he's written everything from straight jazz to hardcore to chamber music.”

Hackers Claim to Revive 'Bricked' iPhones
It's unclear, however, how permanent any "unbrick" fix will be, or whether changes to the hacks that allow modifications will survive the next Apple iPhone update. Hackers have come up with at least one way to "unbrick" iPhones disabled by a firmware update Apple Inc. issued two weeks ago, developers of both paid and free unlock software said Thursday.
Palm's Centro is a Smart Phone With a Great Price
The Palm Centro from Sprint announced today the exceptional price of only $99. This is great news for consumers who want a smart phone, but don't want to shell out mega-prices for one.
