e-ISOTIS participates in VOCA2 project, a project partially financed by the DG Education and Culture of the European Commission under the Leonardo Da Vinci – Community Vocational Training Action Programme (Second phase: 2000-2006). VOCA EUROPE 2 aims at offering increased accessibility to vocational training, enhancing the chances for people with disabilities in the labour market by providing them with the opportunity to obtain a qualification to become mentors who can assist individuals and companies in the recruitment process, while also ensuring that people with disabilities maintain their job.
The target group comprises institutions of vocational training and education, teachers, people with disabilities, labour market.
The objectives of the project are the following:
- To develop a competence model for assessing the abilities of companies as to the recruitment and subsequent employment of disabled persons.
- A train-the-mentors course will be developed and tested aiming e.g. at equipping mentors with monitoring capabilities. The training will also support companies in the process of creating jobs for people with disabilities.
- The selection and adaptation of mentoring tools, ensuring that the mentor can assist the company in the recruiting process so that the company hires the right person for the job.
- The selection and adaptation of tools that enable the mentor to act as a coach for both the company and the individual in the process following the recruitment.
This project is a European one that involves 23 organisations from seven different Member States

e-ISOTIS (Information Society Open To ImpairmentS) is a non-profit making organisation founded in December 2002, working closely with People with Disabilities, Elderly, their spouses as well as members of the ICT (Information Communication Technology) community, worldwide. Currently, its associated members represent 350.000 people with impairments, located in European countries.
e-ISOTIS’ scope is to ensure that people with disabilities, elderly and their families are fully involved in the preparations and activities in line with the slogan "nothing about people with disabilities without people with disabilities". By supporting People with Disabilities and elderly, e-ISOTIS aims at assisting its members in overcoming the existing barriers and experiencing an Information Society that opens up new opportunities for development, prosperity and quality of life.
