May 29, 2006 (Press Release) --
London (ask4loan) 27 May 2006: With the significant rise in identity thefts consumers are being asked to be vigilant with their bills and credit card slips. Another way to ensure that consumers are not being targeted is to check their individual credit report regularly.
Since 1975, everybody had a statutory right to get a paper printout of their credit history by sending £2 by post to a credit agency. Now, consumers will be given free access to their credit history once every year.
For this a new website, www.annualcreditreport.co.uk is being launched on 2 June, to give people annual, free, online access to credit history held on them at their previous and current address.
Credit Reporting Agency believes that such a move will make people more aware and will help reduce any mistakes in their credit reports. Credit history contain information on all borrowings including credit cards, personal loans etc. But recent research has revealed that more than 33 per cent people have found a mistake in their credit history.
