June 12, 2006 (Press Release) --
College-guide.us, offering free information and articles on College and University life and issues, is converting to a search engine format.
“While we will keep and regularly upkeep our article database, we have decided to switch to a more dynamic and user-friendly interface. Our articles were content rich and very useful to our College readers, but we feel our articles site was struggling in the midst of a very condensed market.”
Offering a simple English Interface and a taxonomy that is both College-specific and general, this revamped resource is expected to attract around 200 visitors a day during summer, with a massive increase in numbers expected in August. “We are expecting new traffic on both the search engine and articles pages. We are contemplating adding articles on the new main page to inscrease traffic to the article page, but we will play around to see what earns us the most traffic.” Articles topics range from Tuition Costs to Scholarships and online educational alternatives.
The search engine interface is not aesthetic, but proposes many search offerings. Related searches are pulled from Overture, adding relevance and allowing users to refine their search. eBay and Amazon feeds are also integrated, offering another way to search.
“Ultimately, we want to get closer to what is of daily interest to students, while maintaining and growing our article database and upholding the same level of quality."
