Successful residential weekend course entitled ‘Singing at Sight’ and aimed at anyone who can read music to be held again at Farncombe Estate in Broadway, on the Worcestershire / Gloucestershire

June 13, 2006 (Press Release) -- For anyone who can read music, there’s another chance to attend the popular Singing at Sight course. Perfect for singers and instrumentalists who wish to improve their sight-reading skills whilst stretching their ability and confidence. It is not essential to be a trained singer as the course develops aural skills which are useful to choral and solo singers alike. For a memorable weekend in some of the Cotswolds most beautiful countryside, this really is a weekend getaway with a difference!

The accomplished course leader, former University of Birmingham singer and postgraduate student Catherine Wyatt, will put students through their paces leading them to tuneful success.

About Farncombe Estate Centre

Catherine Wyatt is a postgraduate student at the University of Birmingham researching and editing the music of Alessandro Stradella for publication. Experienced singer, Catherine has performed with many choirs including Birmingham University Singers, visiting Poland in 2002 for the Universitas Cantat Festival. Catherine co-leads the University Philharmonic Orchestra and has led the University Chamber Orchestra. As a chamber musician, has participated in master classes with the Schubert Ensemble and the Endellion Quartet at the Barber Institute of Fine Arts and the Purcell Room. In 1997 Catherine was a finalist in the National Young Composer of the competition and has had her work performed in Salisbury Cathedral.

From its 300-acre location situation based in the North of the Cotswolds, the Farncombe Estate Centre offers a broad range of courses designed to stimulate the body and mind. The centre offers spectacular views of the Cotswolds and aims to free guests from the pressures of busy city lives allowing them to focus on their studies. In addition to these individual pursuits the estate caters for business getaways with team-building activities.

Students have the opportunity to stay onsite within one of the 54 en-suite bedrooms. Outside of studies, guests are free to enjoy an array of leisurely activities provided within the estate’s 300-acres. Leisure facilities include: A licensed bar, two tennis courts, a gymnasium, a nature trail and the Broadway Golf Club next door. Meals are included and varied for a wide range of appetites.
