NAR gives parents a new tool to fight child predators

DELAND, Florida – June 22, 2006 – In an effort to help keep children safe from sexual predators, the National Alert Registry (NAR) today announced it is distributing 5,000 free copies of the Emmy award-winning “Safe from Harm” child safety DVD.

According to NAR, the results are astonishing as hidden cameras capture these children, one by one, opening the door to, or leaving a safe area with, a stranger.
The “Safe from Harm” DVD walks parents and children through numerous safety elements, such as how to avoid unsafe areas, what to do when approached by a stranger, how to create a family safety sign or key word and also provides specific dialogue to help children quickly get out of an uncomfortable situation.
“We parents underestimate the power of practicing these techniques with our children,” Adams said. “By practicing these safety techniques, they will become second nature to children and they will drastically improve children’s confidence and their ability to anticipate and avoid dangerous situations.”
