6'3" 190 lb Halifax West High School and Mainland Redhawks Nova Scotia Varsity Football League Receiver and Punt Kicker Michael (Mike) Squires # 1 Mount Allison FootballRecruit from Nova Scotia 2006/2007.
Michael has been awarded the David A. Neil Memorial Scholarship as the #1 football recruit from Nova Scotia in 2006/2007, the 2006/2007 Dr. Donald MacLauglan Award, given to a student of
scholarship standing who is a member of the Mountie Football Team, and a 4 year academic entrance scholarship for exceptional academic and leadership promise at Mount Allison University.
Michael is a multi-dimensional athlete that had been recruited at 10 universities throughout Canada and the United States to play football and/or Field Lacrosse in 2006/2007 before deciding on playing football at Mount Allison. Michael has received several awards and honours
over the years, including the 2005 Halifax West Warriors MVP Offensive player of the year and a Nova Scotia High School League 2005 All-Star Slot Back. Mike was selected to play on
the Maritime Elite U19 team going to the Canada Cup of Football.
Mike also plays Junior A box
lacrosse and played on the U21 elite Provincial Nova Scotia Box Lacrosse Team in 2005. Michael also plays Halifax competitive level 1 basketball. Michael is presently strength and agility training with Coach Alan Wetmore and
will report to Mount Allison Mounties late August 2006.
“Mount Allison has a strong class of recruits this year.” says Michael Squires. “I’m excited and pleased to be going to the Mounties and look forward to working with Coach Lalonde and becoming a valuable asset to the rebuilding of the Mounties Football Team. I look forward to playing in the CIS and with and against players I know from the Nova Scotia Football Leagues. " says Squires.
