Eggplant hits the high notes hosting the Regent Park School of Music fundraiser

(Free-Press-Release.com) June 26, 2006 -- Toronto, ON � June 26, 2006 � On Wednesday, June 28, 2006, Eggplant stirs up the weeknight by hosting an evening of fun, food, and entertainment to benefit the students of the Regent Park School of Music (RPSM). The line-up includes special performances from RPSM students and alumnus Thompson T. Egbo, Goodness Gracious Fire Dancers, and amazing local guest bands The Salads and D�ari from Nine Mile. And to kick the night off with style, the dynamic duo of CTV eTalk�s Tanya Kim and Much Music�s Robin Black will co-emcee this fantastic philanthropic festivity.

RPSM is one of Toronto�s foremost independent, non-profit community music schools, and Eggplant endeavours to raise community awareness of RPSM so it can continue to provide a safe and secure environment for inner-city youth to foster musical creativity. With the buzz generated from this phenomenal fundraising event, Eggplant and RPSM hope to get kids off the streets and into the music rooms.

One of RPSM�s primary objectives is to offer young people a setting to build confidence, develop discipline, and obtain a positive mentoring experience through music education based on excellence. The school offers Royal Conservatory training to less fortunate, inner-city youth through affordable after-school music programs by renowned and professional music faculty. It takes about $1,500 per student each year to keep the school running. With 200 existing students and more than 250 students on the waiting list, RPSM is already making a significant impact on the community, but is still in definite need of funding.
