June 29, 2006 (Press Release) --
Like the four other established Official Suppliers - EnBW, Hamburg-Mannheimer, OBI and Postbank - ODDSET will receive ten complimentary tickets for every FIFA World Cup™ match; 640 in total. They will also have the option of purchasing up to 200 normal price tickets for each game.
As a separate issue, the Organising Committee have also decided to involve the German Lotto and Toto group in a public draw for tickets for the 2006 FIFA World Cup™ . "It is clear that demand is going to considerably exceed supply, so a draw process will be necessary, as is often the case ahead of FIFA World Cup and European Championship finals. This will be partly achieved via special draws through the lottery companies," explained senior vice-president Horst R. Schmidt, responsible for ticketing. The allocations for the special draws of the lotto group have already been decided. There will be 3,000 tickets for both the Opening Game and the Final, as well as 1,000 tickets for the two semi-finals and one quarter-final.
Erwin Horak, President of the Bavarian State Lottery, expressed his thanks for the constructive discussions with the OC and FIFA. "We are happy that our involvement has now been confirmed. No FIFA World Cup in Germany could take place without the participation of ODDSET – the sports betting arm of the national lottery. ODDSET currently offers betting on over two thirds of all football matches. We have found solutions which go beyond the normal sponsoring package and are specially tailored to the requirements of the lottery companies with their 27,000 receiving offices. With ODDSET everybody has the chance to be at the 2006 FIFA World Cup either as an official volunteer or with a match ticket won via a special lottery draw."
OC President Franz Beckenbauer concluded: "ODDSET are an ideal partner. The lottery companies have been closely associated with football for decades and have given considerable proceeds to amateur and youth football. I am looking forward to working with them. We are also optimistic that we will be able to announce the sixth and final Official Supplier in the very near future."
