Donors can now locate nearby places to donate from mobile devices.
For_Immediate_Release:

June 30, 2006 (Press Release) -- San Francisco, CA – June 28, 2006 - CharityDrives.org, the popular website enabling individuals and organizations nationwide to post and search charity drives and other donation points, has gone mobile.

The free-to-use service helps thousands a day find local centers to donate. From blood bank drives at the UCSF medical school to Salvation Army drop centers in New York to small high school drives in Orange County, CharityDrives.org is a popular service that has recently been upgraded to let all users locate and donate from their cell phones. Any user with a mobile data plan can now easily find information on the go or from their computers. Users need simply point their mobile device’s web browser to http://charitydrives.org/mobile. Once connected they simply enter their zip code to bring up a list of donation points in the area. When a user selects a donation point, the application automatically brings up location information, hours of operation, accepted items, full-text details and contact information.

Chris Seta, partner at the Aedeas Group, the development team behind the service, noted “Adding mobile access was the obvious next step in the evolution of the site, We’re increasingly seeing a porting of web services in the for-profit sector towards mobile as adoption levels increase. But what you don’t see is a lot of not-for-profit websites branching out to mobile - We’re hoping to change that.”

Aedeas Group partner Robert Anton Patterson adds, “Every little bit we can do to make it easier for people to find a donation site makes it that much more likely they will actually donate. In the end, that’s our goal – to leave no excuse not to be charitable!”

If you are looking for a family project, need to complete service hours, or want to make a difference in your local area, visit http://charitydrives.org or point your mobile browser to http://charitydrives.org/mobile to locate and donate.
