New York, NY July 1, 2006 -- The United States-South Africa Corporate Council is honored to support the Walter Sisulu Scholarship Fund in the United States of America and join HSBC Bank USA and the Walter Sisulu Scholarship Fund in honoring Former New York City Mayor David N. Dinkins with a Lifetime Achievement Award for distinguished contributions to social justice in Africa and around the world.

Dinkins and countless others for their support through the years for a free and democratic South Africa.” Ms. Mona Davids, President-The United States-South Africa Corporate Council (USSACC).
The Walter Sisulu Scholarship Fund was founded in 1995 by the late Mr. Walter Sisulu. To date, over 3000 scholarships have been awarded. The objectives of this fund are:
·To afford as many South Africans as possible the opportunity of furthering their education.
·To attempt to create the right climate for affirmative action by ensuring that people are adequately trained for their positions.
·To promote the development of South Africa's human resources.
·To help ensure that the South African population is adequately skilled and qualified to sustain economic growth.
·To assist in the empowerment of people through education and training, thus enabling them to participate effectively in all processes of a democratic society.
·To support Education Africa-initiated program such as the African Management Program, the African Entrepreneurship Program and other relevant courses which Education Africa is currently researching.
The highly attended event was hosted by HSBC Bank USA.
