For more than a century, Hermès has brought to the world luxury items of distinction. From saddlebags to handbags, from watchstraps to watches, Hermès embodies the spirit of a world where expression is paramount.
Established in 1837 as a maker of fine saddles and harnesses, Hermès immediately gained a reputation for its luxurious leathers and quality craftsmanship. By the early 1900s, the brand had acquired a very prestigious international following. As times changed, Hermès kept pace. Moving from the equestrian field to the world of automobiles, Hermès began designing luggage, trunks, gloves and car accessories.
Through the years, the company branched out into other areas. As wristwatches took the world by storm in the 1920s, Hermès carved out its own niche creating elegant watchstraps for the finest companies. In the 1930s, the brand launched its handbags and in 1937, unveiled its own custom silk scarves. This watchmaking factory gave rise to an entire collection of Hermès watches that embody the spirit and style of the brand. Over the decades, Hermès has unveiled a variety of important watch collections, including the Clipper Cape Cod, Espace and H-Our signature watch line.
In 1999, the brand inaugurated its new state-of-the-art workshops in Bienne. Two years later, the Nomade collection of autoquartz watches made its debut in 2001.
Located in the heart of the traditional Swiss- watchmaking region, Hermès retains the advantage of its innovative Parisian spirit when it comes to watch styling. Regularly, this fine company adds novelties and new versions to its successful collections.
A watch that’s built to withstand the elements, the Nomade is powered by an autoquartz movement, which requires no battery. By combining high-precision quartz with rotor technology, the autoquarz movement has 45 to 100 days of power reserve built into it.
Now, Hermès has expanded the Nomade collection by adding a striking ladies’ version, a chronograph, a men’s bracelet model, and the precision-oriented compass watch. The Nomade Compass watch links time and space in avant-garde fashion. The anti-magnetic stainless steel case features a sapphire crystal and a hinged back cover that opens to reveal the compass beneath an optical mineral glass. The elongated rectangular Cape Cod collection also inherits a sporty new member. The Cape Cod Deux Zones displays two time zones—each on a separate subdial on the gracefully curved watch face. Water resistant to 50 meters, the watch is incredibly versatile with its various colored offerings. Constantly revisiting and reinterpreting its long-time bestsellers, Hermès can’t resist adding new touches.
