Chicago Singer-songwriter, Kristen Ford, will present an evening of acoustic material at this free show at Mocha Mayas. Stop-Action Cowboy support.
GREENFIELD, MA-July 7th 2006, Folk Rock Singer-songwriter Kristen Ford has been cutting her teeth in the metropolitan music scene, but returns to her small town roots this summer. Her intimate appearance at Mocha Mayas is testament to the marriage of northeastern music influences, and a newfound perspective on what the Happy Valley has to offer.
Kristen Ford is a folk rocker with a Northamptoner’s indie heart. Over the past few years her love of music has taken Kristen all the way to Chicago, where she works at a label and produces live shows. Her original music blends Ani Difracno’s guitar work, Tegan and Sara’s pop hooks and the Winterpills’ lyrical sincerity. In the past she has shared the stage with the likes of Sonya Kitchell, Erin Mckeown and Chi-town favorites The Dialectics.
Shelburne Falls’s Mocha Mayas offers up live music almost nightly, featuring original artists spanning every genre from jazz, to hip hop, to folk rock. Kristen Ford’s homecoming show on 9pm on Saturday night will feature acoustic originals off of her upcoming recording. Local indie rock group Stop Action-Cowboy will be supporting at 8pm.
The show runs from 8-10 pm, is all ages and has no cover charge. You can download free tracks online at http://www.myspace.com/kfochicago Lookout for Kristen’s acoustic set, appearing across the valley this summer.
