July 10, 2006 (Press Release) --
Susan MacKay, principal of Our Lady of Grace School, a Catholic school serving students from Chelsea, Everett, Revere, Malden, and other North Shore communities, announced that the school was designated an inner-city school by the Archdiocese of Boston Catholic Schools Foundation, making available significant financial aid for eligible students wishing to attend the school.
The Catholic Schools Foundation, Inc., through its Inner-City Scholarship Fund (ICSF), provides scholarship assistance to those students who will attend a designated inner-city parochial school in the Archdiocese of Boston. According to Mrs. MacKay, “Our distinction as an inner-city school allows us to reach out to those students who might not otherwise have a chance to attend a parochial school.” Scholarship assistance, including a $1000 discount towards the first year’s tuition, will be awarded to students without regard to race, color, gender, creed, or economic status.
Of special significance in the designation is a special fund earmarked for students new to Catholic education. Those students are eligible for a $1,000 tuition discount to attend Our Lady of Grace.
Mrs. MacKay added “As a parent as well as an educator, I cannot stress the importance of providing a solid educational background for children today. To counter the negative and potentially damaging effects of today’s secular society, we work with our students to help them realize the power – and ramifications – of their decisions.”
About Our Lady of Grace School
Our Lady of Grace School was opened in 1929 under the auspices of the Sisters of St. Joseph to educate the minds and souls of children living in the communities of Everett and Chelsea. Since then, the school has expanded and now educates over 225 students in grades pre-kindergarten through eight. The school regularly sees its graduates continue their education at leading private high schools, including Newman Preparatory School, Malden Catholic High School, St. John’s Preparatory School, and Boston College High School. The school’s commitment to academics, athletics, arts, spirituality, and community service is reflected regularly in classroom and extra-curricular work.
