July 15, 2006 (Press Release) --
July 15, 2006 - Less-goo.com now available in French too.
"Less-goo was launched in May to fuel our clients’ searches. During the first two months, we went through quite a few changes before finding the right balance, and settling for the current look”.
“As a translation company, adding a French version to the site was a given. Part of our clientele is French-speaking, therefore a French version seemed natural to attract their interest. We are also bilingual. If we cannot find results in English, we can try in French. And vice-versa."
The site is currently boasting a solid PR5 and its search functions are bilingual. "This gives the site resell value. As a matter of fact we have started talks with another translation agency, an onfrench-friendly translation agency, to pass the torch to while we develop our other search engines".
OnFrench currently owns 3 search engines: less-goo.com, and two other search engines which haven't yet launched and are still in development.
"The idea behind less-goo.com was to add value to our client relationships by providing our clients with a search tool to fuel their searches. It was a test, and results have been conclusive. Less-goo.com has some sentimental value to us, but our other engines are far more advanced. That is to say the bulk of our development will now be targetted towards those two other engines."
Less-goo.com search functions are as simple as the word simple itself, and the tool still has relevance. Because related searches are pooled from Overture, the search engine helps in targeting keywords and therefore facilitates the search. It may also be of help for keyword-based campaigns. Advertising on the Web can be very costly. The tool helps in targeting keywords, which may result in cost reduction. While that was already true for English-based campaigns and searches, it is now also true for French-based campaigns and searches.
