http://www.internal-branding.net Continues Dr Nikolaus, the author of 'The IziCwe Code: Conquer Life': "Are you listening to your inner voice when life presents you with an opportunity to change yourself and your environment? When the walls of the past crumble around you, are you ready to change with the times – or are you waiting to be punished by life? There are three crucial areas of change I call the "success triangle ". If you focus on them to take charge of new opportunities, it will propel you towards reaching your full potential and paving the way to greater happiness and success."
Says Dr Nikolaus: "Whenever you appear in public, how do you portray yourself to others? What 's your "uniform ", that makes you stand out from the crowd? It was only at the age of 24 that I discovered the power of my own uniform. At that stage, I'd been growing my hair shoulder-long for close to a decade, convinced this look was attracting the girls and that it gave me an adventurous image. As a teenager, this strategy worked for me – but then I became involved IN a project which required me to travel throughout Europe trying to canvass support for a network of classics students. After a number of strange looks from people, and noticing some of them were clearly uncomfortable when I tried to talk to them, I started getting the feeling that my hairstyle might be giving others the wrong impression at presentations and functions with student leaders and academics."
Concludes Dr Nikolaus: "Finally, one evening, I discussed this subject with Maria, a very attractive, elegant working out, or in the company of friends who're draining you, but you've never had the guts to make that liberating first is the person closest to you. Many times our mental impetus to making a change. student leader from Madrid. It came as a shock when she said she thought my long hair made me look like a gangster. The next morning, as soon as the shops opened, I found a local barber and asked for a short cut and little bit of trim. When I walked out of the barber 's shop and presented myself to Maria, she shook her head in disbelief, so great was the difference in my appearance. She also confided to me that what turned her on most in a man was the neatness of his hair, and the quality of his shoes. And she added: "If a man really wants to excite me,he should also always have a decent watch on his wrist and a pen visible in his pocket!" I was so impressed by this that to this day, every morning, I check those four change agents and never leave the house without them."
"Your outer appearance is one of the key factors that help you improve your self-image – that belief about who you are and what you want out of life. Many times in life, we're held back by the limits of our self-image, thinking we aren't smart enough or not meant to reach the heights we see others attaining. When you dress to align your outer appearance with your inner beliefs or self-worth, you'll start feeling more self-confident and assertive in your interactions with others."
Dr Nikolaus recently introduced a revolutionary new brand leadership model, called The IziCwe Code, at the Global Leaders Africa Summit in Johannesburg, sharing the stage with world renowned leadership gurus Tom Peters, Rudy Giuliani and Michael Porter. Based on twelve years of global research, The IziCwe Code is about internal branding strategies from Emperor Shaka, aimed at engaging the emotional drivers of employee commitment (coined EmotiVators™ by Dr Nikolaus) and building total commitment to delivering the brand promise.
Dr Nikolaus and co-author Herman Schoonbee published “The IziCwe Code: Internal Branding” in 2005 (Academy Press, foreword by Reuel Khoza), which was recently critically reviewed by President Thabo Mbeki in his Letter from the President; using “the analytical tools contained in The IziCwe Code”, the President issued the challenge to government leaders to “generate the kind of commitment that will ensure that …our government at all levels … can be trusted to honour the brand promise!”
Dr Nikolaus’ earlier book “Conquer Life: Personal Branding Strategies from the Emperor” was appraised by The Business Day as “A must for anyone who wants to overcome personal and career challenges”, and Herman Mashaba, Founder of Black Like Me as “A uniquely South African formula for mustering the will to succeed and conquer life.”
