?July 15, 2006, New York City: The Million Dollar Destiny Project announced tonight that the Mantool Customizable Multitool brand will be offered for sale on Ebay in a seven-day auction terminating at 2100EST on July 22, 2006. This culminates a 30-day effort of Ft. Collins, CO resident, Remi Frazier, to take a business from conceptualization to outright sale in just 30 days, using only $100 in capital, thus proving that the American Dream is alive and well and living in New York.
The Mantool Customizable Multitool concept is the next generation of multitools. It is a handheld multitool comparable to those produced by Gerber, Leatherman, Victorinox, SOG Knives and many others, but with a critical difference; it is comprised of fully interchangeable components which are selected by each customer upon product purchase.
MORE THAN A BUSINESS, THE MILLION DOLLAR DESTINY IS A SOCIAL MESSAGE
The Mantool is the direct result of a business incubator / social movement called the Million Dollar Destiny Project. The project was formed on June 15, 2006 as part of a social documentary of the same name. The project has been divided into three entities: A filmworks company (Million Dollar Destiny Filmworks), a business incubator (Million Dollar Destiny Project), and the resulting product line business (Mantool Customizable Multitools). The film's purpose is to observe the 30-day formation and subsequent sale of a business as viewed through a socially conscious eye. While the film itself has generated considerable interest, the business incubator and product line have been the subject of growing online buzz (a viral concept with demonstrable growth) and ongoing media coverage (including articles in the New York Post and Businessweek).
Remi Frazier, the creator and owner of the concept, released a written statement about the sale: “I said from the beginning that this was a project more based around a social message, and I think we’ve proven that its a good one. The American spirit has proven that it is alive and well; I’ve found incredible amounts of opportunity and generosity over the past month. Though we were unable to find a buyer in the short time frame afforded by this project, I’ve said since the beginning that I wouldn’t keep building the Mantool business after our thirty days ended. Rather than walking away from the business, I want to pass it on to the next dreamer, whomever that may be.”
Several individuals have approached the Million Dollar Destiny Project expressing interest in investment or in forming a group of investors to push the concept of a customizable multitool into production.
A date has not yet been set for release of the Million Dollar Destiny documentary.
