Imperial Stunt Drivers' North American Tour stops at Thunder Road on VSECU night

BARRE, Vt. -- Cars in flames, cars on two wheels, cars flying through the air. It sounds a little bit like Thunder Road's PowerShift Warriors division, but in reality it's the Imperial Stunt Drivers thrill show. Made up of celebrated drivers from the United States, Canada, and Denmark, the Imperial show invades Barre's Thunder Road on Vermont State Employees Credit Union night-Thursday, August 18. Along with the talented and experienced stunt performers, the stars of the program also include 2005 Mustang GTs, Ford Ranger pickups, motorcycles, and even a clown car.
The Imperial troupe includes Paul Riddell of Canada, a veteran of the renowned Imperial Hell Drivers whose career began 53 years ago. He retired after the 2002 season, but is coming back for the summer of '05. Touring this year with Riddell for the first time is fellow legendary daredevil Tonny Petersen of Denmark. Petersen's career started as an acrobat and his stunt driving days began 49 years ago with the Jack Kochman Hell Drivers. His thrill show experience spans several decades where he has become a master of precision driving-and crashing.
Also performing on the Imperial Stunt Drivers' current North American tour is Toby Thibodeau of Maine, U.S.A. This female performer joined the Imperial Hell Drivers 23 years ago, and has plenty of thrill show and monster truck action under her belt. Rounding out the 2005 Imperial team are motorcycle rider and fire expert Mike Merryweather, teenage crash specialists Derrick and Ashley Riddell, Ko-Ko the Klown, and announcer Larry Rich.
Post time for Thunder Road's Vermont State Employees Credit Union night is 6 PM on Thursday, August 18. Regular adult admission is $10, kids (ages 6-12) are $2.00 and the "Family Fare" for any two adults and two kids, is $10. Fans can also stop by any of the six Credit Union locations throughout Vermont and pick up a coupon good for a free child's admission (ages 6-12) ticket to the event.
