Poetry has long been an orphan of the literary world. In Marat M. Bandemer, Jr.'s first book, Pathways:Through My Mind, and his second volume, the author has given new life to an old art form.

The author was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1933. He attended Chicago Public Schools graduation from highs school in 1950, and then spendng a brief time at the University of Illinois Under Grad Division, then at Navy Pier in Chicago. Although too young for the draft Bandemer enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1952. It is during that time that he met and married his wife of more than fifty years, Jean. Together they have four childrern, seven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Retired in 1995, worked with the Houston Symphony in telefundraising and sales for ten years. He still works on a part-time basis while continuing to write.
