Lap Shun John Hui buying share in NEC by August

According to �Nihon Keizai Business Daily�, the NEC Corp (japan�s 3rd and world�s 7th largest PC maker) is in proposals & negotiations to sell its European PC operating (Packard Bell BV Unit) for under 10 billion yen ($87 million) to the PC tycoon John Hui, the founder of eMachines.

John Hui, China-born tech business entrepreneur, sold eMachines to Gateway Inc for $266m in 2004. He bought eMachines for $160m in 2001 form Korean ODM and distributed profit of $72.5m amongst 140 eMachines employees.

Hugues Gontier, MD EMEA at Packard Bell, confirmed NEC corporation is considering the Packard Bell take-over deal with an �interested party� and the proposal information has been given to the shareholders and 1000 Packard Bell staff across EMEA.

Industry sources reveal, although Packard Bell consumer desktop and notebook business is running in losses but it still holds a healthy 10% stake in the European PC market and would provide benefits of earned brand-name, established relationships with retailers and the product�s set routes in the European Markets, to the buyer.
