== Secure IE ==
Q. How do I use Secure IE?
A. After connecting to the internet through an Internet Service Provider (ISP), click on the Secure IE icon to browse the Internet. This simple step enables you to browse with the security and protection provided by Secure IE. When browsing via Secure IE, potentially dangerous website behaviors are restricted and controlled by Secure IE.
Q. Do I need to have an updated version of McAfee VirusScan to use Secure IE?
A. An updated version of McAfee VirusScan (or any other anti-virus software) is not required to use Secure IE. However, we recommend that you have an updated version of McAfee VirusScan, Norton AntiVirus, or other antivirus software, for protection from email borne viruses.
Q. I have clicked on the download link and it has downloaded. What is the next step?
A. After downloading from the link, an icon named "SIEPIE-FI.exe" or "SIE-FI.exe" should be visible on the desktop. Double-click on this icon to install Secure IE.
Q. I've downloaded AND installed Secure IE, the Secure IE icon is on my desktop. What do I do next?
A. After successfully downloading and installing Secure IE, click on the desktop icon to begin using the program. The security and productivity features are available for use immediately. Keep in mind that in order to effectively prevent the appearance of pop-up advertisements, Secure IE must be used as your main browser.
Q. I'm using Secure IE as my main browser, but I am still getting pop-ups. Why?
A. The pop-ups are probably caused by software already downloaded onto the computer. Secure IE will prevent such software from being downloaded in the future, but will not remove such software that has been downloaded previously. We recommend using Lavasoft's Adaware to remove such software.
Q. Does Secure IE protect my email from viruses?
A. Secure IE does not provide protection for email borne viruses. Secure IE acts as a safeguard against a variety of malicious behaviors as you surf the Internet.
Q. Does Secure IE protect my email from junk email (spam)?
A. Secure IE acts as a safeguard against a variety of malicious behaviors on the Internet and blocks many different types of browser attacks. Such browser attacks can be used to steal your email address and other email addresses contained in your address book or Outlook contacts. Therefore, Secure IE will reduce the likelihood of your email address from being obtained by spammers (junk mail senders).
For best results, we recommend that you use Secure IE in conjunction with an email filter, such as McAfee SpamKiller . McAfee SpamKiller will remove junk email from your inbox.
Q. Is Secure IE compatible with Norton? McAfee? Zone Alarm? Gator? RoboForm?
A. Secure IE is compatible with most popular virus protection software including McAfee VirusScan, and Norton Anti-Virus.
Secure IE is compatible with most popular firewall software including ZoneAlarm, McAfee Firewall, Norton Internet Security.
Secure IE is not compatible with Gator. We recommend RoboForm instead if you need automated form-filling features.
