August 1, 2006 (Press Release) --
VitalPodcasts.com recently added some polling software to their site to try and gather some information about the podcasting community that frequently visit the site. After a week of having the Poll listed on the site, as well as displayed on other podcasting sites via the new Podcast Widgets, has shown slightly over half of the traffic to podcasting directories comes from podcasters.
As podcasting continues to as a main stream method of entertainment and education we feel the number of non-podcaster visitors to sites that list podcasts will grow as more people will find alternative methods of finding new shows other than Yahoo, and services like iTunes. Podcast Directories offer more than a list service and search engine enabling fans and podcasters to connect with their fans with comments, message boards and a wide range of other features that the major services do not offer.
The current poll on VitalPodcasts.com asks users if a ranking on a web site helps them to discover new shows. Those results will be posted next week.
