Inspired by The West Bound Tour of 2005, Mikey Mo "The MC", Abyss, & Dap Daniel got together to record one of the hottest Hip Hop albums to come out of The Bay Area. WEST BOUND delivers that raw Hip Hop straight from the West Coast with an East Bay mentality! Each MC brings their own style to the album while complementing one another on the mic. The production work by Abyss & Dap Daniel on the album is incomparable, with bangin’ beats from beginning to end. DJ Daeta (Jimi Handtrix) is featured on two tracks cutting it up.
All three MC’s has been putting it down in the Hip Hop game for quite some time now. Mikey Mo “The MC” is originally from Jamaica Queens, New York. He moved to The Bay Area in 2002 and has been gaining major recognition ever since. With the release of his two mixtapes, Hunger Painz & Muffin Man, during the past year, Mikey Mo “The MC” has established his place in Hip Hop as one of the dopest MC’s to bless the mic. From East Coast to West Coast, Mikey Mo brings lyrical knowledge and real life content through his music, which he calls “Reality Rap”. Mikey Mo’s life speaks through his music and his music speaks to all those living in that everyday hustle. His highly anticipated debut album, FOCUSED, will be coming out in fall 2006 on 3sixty5 Records.
Abyss is from Richmond, CA and has been living in The Bay Area all his life. Although growing up in the ghettos of Richmond, CA, Abyss rejects the use of portraying a ghetto lifestyle to reach the minds of his listeners. Abyss uses the blueprints of Hip Hop to infiltrate and impact a positive element to the young urban culture. During the past few years Abyss has been gaining major exposure through various projects and appearances. In 2003 Abyss’s song, “If I Wasn’t”, was featured on the YPA: Players Ball 2K3, a street basketball DVD that showcases some of the best street ballers on the West Coast. In 2005 YPA released their follow up DVD, The War, which also featured another hot track from Abyss, “Times Up”. Also in 2005 Abyss released his debut album, FROM NOW ON, and is already considered to be an underground Hip Hop classic. Honing his craft as a writer and producer for over ten years, Abyss's undeniable skills and eclectic style, both through his lyrics and production, is guaranteed to establish him as one of the premier artists of our generation.
Dap Daniel is a Bay Area native raised in Central Richmond in one of the most notorious hoods in Northern Cali, known as 6th Street. Dap Daniel has been making noise in The Bay Area since 1990 with his crew the BroHydes. With numerous underground joints already under his belt Dap Daniel’s most recent major work was in 2005, where he wrote and recorded three songs for the Lion’s Gate motion picture and soundtrack, titled RIZE. The soundtrack available through EMI boasts a heavyweight lineup consisting of Dap Daniel, Flii Stylz, and Christina Aguilera just to name a few. Currently Dap Daniel is finishing up his latest mixtape, “Storm Watch vol. 1” and in the studio recording his debut solo album titled, RAWDICULOUS, which will be released in 2007.
