August 7, 2006 (Press Release) --
This man is a person that was surprised on the Oprah Winfrey Show after an illusion was set up to interview him for the “Angel Network Award” but in actuality Oprah (who was also a former forensic competitor) wanted to provide a national platform for him and his forensics program; PBS featured him in a documentary “Accidental Hero Room 408” which provided behind the scenes of him, his students and the benefits of forensics; the award winning book “It Doesn’t Take A Genius” (co-authored with Randall McCutheon) discusses the strategic process of being a successful student and he was one of the recipients of the prestigious 2005 MacArthur Foundation Award. This man is none other than Tommie Lindsey, cousin of the CEO & Founder of Jabez Entertainment Group (JEG), Vernita R. Naylor.
JEG would like to stand in line to commend Tommie for his diligence of over 15 years in teaching "forensics." Forensics is a form of oral communication that encompasses – humor, drama, duo and thematic interpretations; original pose and poetry; oratorical; expository; Lincoln-Douglas debate (one person per side persuasive debate); congress (floor debate) and policy debate (two person per team debate). His tireless efforts have not only help the community but our future generation by helping our kids to hone their skills, empower their hidden talents, develop excellent communication skills and build self-esteem.
The students have won several awards at the State and National Championship levels; NFL School of Excellence Awards and Tommie has received the National Forensics Coach Of The Year Award. His students frequently defeat their competitors even those students from more prominent schools. The majority of his students go on attend a four (4) year college or qualify for the State University. Despite the awards and recognition that he or his students have received he is still the same humble person that we all know and love who teaches his students “YES YOU CAN.”
