Two new disciplines that combining modern consciousness research and ancient spiritual systems for healing

TULUM, Mexico (Aug.14, 2006) – Drawing upon powerful cosmic energies resonating within the Mayan Riviera’s mystic past, EcoTulum Resorts & Spa announces the participation of two innovative healing disciplines in Maya Spa’s autumnal healers’ conference: Holotropic Breathwork and Family Constellations.
Though the two disciplines couldn’t be more different, they both aim to heal through self-exploration and a series of consciousness-raising exercises. Holotropic breathwork was developed in the 1970’s by combining modern consciousness research and ancient spiritual systems. The technique uses accelerated breathing paired with evocative music to trigger experiences and “non-ordinary states of consciousness,” such as dreaming or meditation. During this type of therapy, an individual must have a clear and long-standing issue to be addressed (for example, feelings of guilt). In setting up a family constellation, workshop attendees are chosen to represent members of the individual’s family. The attendees become a living model of the original family system. While the individual looks on, the therapist asks the mock family about their feelings and perceptions.
