The Times BFI London Film Festival celebrates its 50th birthday this year and the party is set to begin on October 18 with the European premiere of Kevin Macdonald�s The Last King Of Scotland.

(Free-Press-Release.com) August 11, 2006 -- The Times BFI London Film Festival celebrates its 50th birthday this year and the party is set to begin on October 18 with the European premiere of Kevin Macdonald�s The Last King Of Scotland.

Based on the award-winning novel by Giles Foden, the film stars Forest Whitaker as the tyrannical Ugandan President Idi Amin, alongside James McAvoy, Gillian Anderson, Kerry Washington and Simon McBurney.

�It would be an honour to be chosen any year to open The Times BFI London Film Festival� said the movie�s director. �It�s particularly great to be kicking off the 50th edition. I'm so pleased to be having the European premiere of The Last King Of Scotland in my home city and at a Festival where I myself have discovered so many wonderful movies over the years�.

The full programme for The Times BFI 50th London Film Festival will be announced on Thursday September 14. The festival runs from 18 October � 2 November.
