COMET SET TO HIT NEW YORK CITY SEPTEMBER 8th - LAUGHTER WILL ENSUE
New York, NY - August 16th, 2006 – A comet of hilarity will crash into the Big Apple when the 4th Annual New York City Underground Comedy Festival takes place on September 8-16th. Produced by Sarris Productions, the festival will feature over 200 comedy related events from stand up comedy showcases to writing / comedy workshops which will take place in 75 locations across all five boroughs of NY. Over 400 professional and rising star comedians nationwide will partake in the largest comedy exhibition in the history of NYC.
Headlining the festival will be Rick Overton (Emmy Award Winning Head Writer For HBO's "The Dennis Miller Show"), Pablo Francisco (NBC’s "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno”), Rob Bartlett (WFAN’s “Imus in the Morning”), Steve White (HBO), Bonne McFarlane (NBC’s “Last Comic Standing”), Rich Vos (NBC’s “Last Comic Standing”), and Eddie Brill (CBS’s “Late Show with David Letterman”).
Noteworthy shows for 2006 include: Bill Hicks Tribute, Greek Comedy Live, Boomer Babes, Nice Jewish Girls Gone Bad, George Bush Drove Me to Crack, Big 80's, the Unsigned Show, Religious comedy, and much more.
Tickets prices range from outrageously highly to absolutely free pending on the shows. Regardless, every single New Yorker will have the opportunity to experience the NYCUCF. Can’t make it out? America Online will be broadcasting highlights throughout the festival.
Aside from the major comedy clubs, people can see festival shows their local libraries, hospitals, and even homeless shelters. The NYCUCF will be raising money for several charities.
