A small corner of North Eastern England, Redcar in the County of Cleveland has been chosen as the location for the new movie "Atonement", Financed by 'Working Title Films'.
Location manager, Mally Chung stated that "The architecture is fantastic, the proximity of the beach, the nearby steelworks-it ticks all the boxes."
A crew of three hundred have spent the last three weeks transforming ocean front properties into 1940's france appearance, and filming is due to start 08-18-2006.
1000 of 6000 local wannabees have been chosen as extras, movie publicist Rachel Kennedy described the response as 'Phenomenal'.
The movie which will portray the evacuation of the British army from Dunkirk by an armada of small boats and the British Royal navy
A projected worldwide audience of 72 million is set to make this movie one of the biggies in 2007.
