August 21, 2006 (Press Release) --
The group met through an online poetry website. It was through constant conversations that they soon realized they all had a keen interest in more then just poetry. Margaret Hussey (Canada), who was doing the Weekend To End Breast Cancer walk for the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation, to help raise money for breast cancer research, and Sharon Ruderham (UK), who states that one of her hobbies as fund raising, realized that there could be an opportunity to reach out from their online community and do so much more. And with that the “Inner Circle” was formed. It was decided that The Inner Circle of Poets was to be strictly a non-profit organization dedicated towards raising money for various charitable causes through the power of the written poetic word.
The enthusiasm these ladies possessed had carried over onto other poets who were more than willing to offer their ideas and volunteer to participate, even thought they all had to chip in and help fund the first project themselves. This unified venture lead to the publication and release of their first book entitled “The Beauty Within” with all proceeds going towards breast cancer research at the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation .
The Group expanded when David Bellamy(USA) and Rod Hinson(USA) joined the group they brought their own unique style and insight to an already driving force. With the circle now completed, the group has once again reached out to the poetic community. This led to the release of their second book entitled “Hidden Pieces” with all sales benefiting autism research and Awareness.
With the launch of an official website, two books released, and yet another soon to come, it can be assured that The Inner Circle of Poets has made their mark on the community and has introduced what could be said as the next generation of fundraising strategy. The Inner Circle of Poets committee members would like to make the following statement: “Those who believe enough in what we are doing to support the various causes are the real heroes, for they are what makes this a reality. Without the poets and those who buy the books and merchandise, we would still be nothing more then an idea waiting to happen.”
