Consumertopten.com attempts to solve this problem by allowing your average web surfer to add a rating and a review to the e-commerce sites presented. This however is no guarantee that the reviews themselves will be unbiased. It makes sense for a business to advertise itself, by employing various individuals to give them high ratings and favorable reviews. It is a problem that decent web directories have faced since their advent.
Jason Damon, CEO of consumertopten.com comments: “It is indeed a challenge to screen out those blatant advertising reviews, but we took the approach of moderating the review submittal process and the results are more than satisfactory. We are also relying on the large of users to help obtain an accurate rating.
