Muncie, IN – Problem-solution… That’s how Dale Matthews’ mind works. So, while enjoying his newly-found hobby of golf, he knew there had to be a better and easier way to clean a golf ball while out on the course. It’s a problem almost all golfers encounter. There has to be a simple way to wash a golf ball while playing on a course-anywhere or anytime, even when you’re not near the golf course’s ball washers.
Most golfers like to be able to clean their golf ball at the green prior to putting. A clean ball has a truer roll and helps your overall game. In October 2004, Mr. Matthews began developing a golf ball cleaner for personal use that could be carried on a golf bag. Insert a dirty ball, and in a few shakes you have a sparkling clean golf ball. So, after much experimentation, Dale’s ball cleaner was invented and patented.
“Though I have only been playing golf for five years, I now like to play at least twice a week”, says Dale. “I carry my ball cleaner with me each time I play. Typically I clean my golf ball on the greens and on the way to the next tee station.”
Mr. Matthew’s ball cleaner was on the verge of going commercial, so he called long time friend Ted Baker from World Wide Technologies. Ted began manufacturing the product as well as handling all marketing. Together Ted and Dale laid the foundation to what would become Shake’m Golf. The product and company were named Shake’m Golf based on the shaking action that the product uses to clean the ball.
In November of 2005 Mr. Matthews took Shake’m Golf in a different direction than World Wide Technologies, LLC, due to a mutual agreement between Dale and Ted. Dale took the ball cleaner to another long time friend and enthusiast of his invention; Jim Allen of Midwest Organic Products.
Shake’m Golf’s promotional design and marketing were then developed by Kyle Keesling and Raymond Rees of Red Grape LLC, a website design and marketing firm out of Muncie, IN. Red Grape LLC brought the professional image that Mr. Matthews’ was looking for. Together he felt that Red Grape could do exactly for his product what their slogan says, “Get Noticed.” Dale, Jim, Kyle and Ray organized the business and named it Shake’m Golf LLC.
The Shake’m Golf Ball Cleaner is now a commercial product. It was introduced at the 2006 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Florida. The product can be customized for business promotions, golf outings, and other events. Suggested retail price for this product will be $7.95. Shake’m Golf will also offer wholesale and distribution prices.
The Shake’m Golf Ball Cleaner is approximately 6” tall with a diameter of 2”. It comes equipped with a hanger lid and carabiner hook. The top and bottom are made of molded rubber. The center container is a hard pliable plastic with a scratch pad.
How To Use:
Fill bottle half full with water, DO NOT use any cleaning product
Shake several times to saturate pad, then pour out excess water
Insert dirty golf ball, shake several times to clean ball
Dump ball out onto dry towel, wipe off excess moisture
