August 22, 2006 (Press Release) --
Miami, FL – August 22, 2006 - In a show of support from the Cuban and Hispanic Community, former Nike Travel Basketball Coach (Miami Tropics) and Miami Community Leader, Art Alvarez endorsed Daniel Imperato for the White House in 2008.
“Mr. Imperato is a truly unique individual. He is able to personally relate to people of different backgrounds, cultures, and languages. Just from what I’ve seen from him alone, I can say that he is definitely a remarkable man,” stated Alvarez.
Alvarez is a local legend in Miami, having been a success at just about everything he has tried, from business to sports. As a basketball player, he was the first Cuban to earn first-team all-state, as a guard for Miami's LaSalle High School.
As a coach, he helped lead Miami Christian High School to two state titles, setting Florida's single-season record for wins (38) in the process. However, it is as a mentor to young players that Alvarez has truly made his mark.
“Art Alvarez is fine human being,” stated Daniel Imperato. “He really cares about the youth of his community and I am proud to have his endorsement for 2008. I look forward to working with him, the Cuban community, and the broader Hispanic community at large in order to revive America.”
