August 23, 2006 (Press Release) --
St. Augustine based songwriter/guitarist Rick Levy has been listening to President Dubya Bush for six years..He finally snapped and wrote a song..then wrote more songs. Directed at No. 1 Good ol' boy himself, George Dubya, the result is
THE BUSHWHACKERS..."Beatin Round the Bush" EP
(Luxury/Lightyear/distributed by WEA) The music is traditional country which is usually associated with conservative right wing politics, but the lyrics are exactly the opposite. Its a funny, yet potent mix.
Nashville guru, Robert Oermanns, says of the single "He Swapped the Bottle for the Bible"..this anit Bush ditty suggests that if Georgie had kept on getting plastered, maybe the world would be a better place today. Well produced and catchy."
THE BUSHWHACKERS will ruffle some conservative feathers, cause the truth hurts, even in a beer swilling, knee slappin kinda way. Songs like
"Buckshot Dick," "The Daughters Love to Drink,"
He's a Puppet," "Party Boy," and "Never Saw No Weapons" round out the CD.
There is a hilarious flash animation for
"He Swapped..." at www.bushwhackerssite.com
Levy has carved a career for himself as musical director for 60's legends Tommy Roe, Jay & the Techniques, and also manages The Box Tops. He was bandleader for Herman's Hermits. His latest project has the White House directly in the cross hairs. This is the political satire cd of the year.
