August 28, 2006 (Press Release) --
Stockton Graham & Co. of Raleigh, North Carolina has received the Golden Cup, awarded by the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) for coffee brewing excellence.
To earn the Golden Cup, applicants have their brewing procedures, equipment, and brewed coffee carefully evaluated by an SCAA-certified brewing technician. Samples of the applicants’ coffee are also tested by the Coffee Quality Institute of Long Beach, California to ensure the coffee matches the SCAA’s standards of excellence.
“The Golden Cup is intended to motivate coffeehouses, cafes, and restaurants to learn how to improve the quality of their brewed coffee,” says Ted Lingle, Executive Director of the Institute. “We’re happy to recognize those who can satisfy the SCAA’s high standards.”
Though the award is intended for retailers, Stockton Graham & Co. applied as a demonstration of the Golden Cup testing service they offer to their customers. Jeff Vojta, CEO of Stockton Graham & Co., explains: "We pride ourselves on offering exceptional coffees, but this is only one component of the end product. It is also very important that the coffee is brewed and served at optimal levels to guarantee it's enjoyed at the height of its taste profile. We are pleased to offer this service to our customers and also feel that it's important to set a good example by testing our own internal brewing methods."
