August 29, 2006 (Press Release) --
(Charleston, SC) - Chicks with Checks, a social and educational program that is redefining power networking for women, now offers franchise opportunities for communities nationwide. The successful program, conceived in Charleston, SC in 2005, is loosely based on the increasingly popular giving circle concept, however Chicks with Checks is a conduit for direct philanthropy and making contacts rather than a charitable entity itself.
“Chicks with Checks introduces women to a variety of worthy causes in a networking setting, and encourages their personal financial and volunteer support of these organizations,” explains Anne Newell, president of Performax, a leadership and professional development consulting firm that sponsors the program. “Just as giving circles maximize giving power, Chicks with Checks maximizes the power of awareness. We want women leaders to learn about positive things happening at the grass roots level in their community. It’s hard to support a good cause if you don’t know about it.”
Chicks with Checks invites women to monthly wine and appetizer “parties with a purpose.” Guests enjoy social and networking opportunities while a selected non-profit, usually a high-impact low profile organization, showcases their mission and outlines their needs for support. “Chicks” contribute the amount they would have spent on an evening out directly to the featured organization. “It’s a win-win for everyone,” claims Newell. Women make a positive impact while building their contact list and having a fun night out, while organizations benefit financially, increase their own mailing lists, and reach new audiences.
“We’ve had numerous calls from people excited about this idea who want to replicate it in their communities,” Newell says. The new licensing package grants rights to the Chicks with Checks logo and all the information, tools, templates and technology platforms necessary to replicate the program in other cities.
